Pride for the Whole Family

Pride for the Whole Family

When Melanie Wood came to Cleveland Pride more than 5 years ago, she did not realize she would soon be the catalyst for the first Children’s Zone in the event’s history. Attending with her young son, she realized there were not many activities catered to those his age. She brought the concern to Cleveland Pride Inc. and was encouraged to run with her idea for a children’s section of the festival.

Children’s Zone officially began at the Cleveland Pride festival in 2012 and has been reaching several hundred kids annually. The area includes a duck pond, coloring, bubbles, face painting (for all ages), and goodie bags to take home. It is the perfect area for kids 10 and under and their families to enjoy the Pride festivities. Wood stated, “I support Pride because I believe everyone in this world is equal and should be proud of who they are and it’s just as simple as that”. This is the resounding message that Cleveland Pride aims to instill in community members of all ages. On June 24th, 2017, bring your family and friends to Cleveland Pride: United We Stand OUT to join in on the fun and unity that supports the LGBTQ community and allies.
