CLEVELAND PRIDE JOINS FORCES WITH GOODTIME III & NUEVO MODERN MEXICAN TO BRING PRIDE’S 28TH CELEBRATION BACK TO VOINOVICH PARK, ON SATURDAY, JUNE 24TH

Cleveland Pride has been hard at work preparing for the 28th parade, rally & festival celebration to be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Voinovich Park. This exciting news comes in the wake of prior fears that continued development would inhibit further use of Voinovich Park.

Benjamin Langham, 2017 Volunteer Pride Committee Planning and Logistics Coordinator, assembled a team in August of last year to seek out other site options. The team soon discovered that alternative sites would have required the elimination of key features, services, or groups. Annual programs include Youth Town, a fundraising opportunity for local collegiate GSAs, and a performance stage with 8 hours of Ohio’s musical and dance talent.

“In August of last year, key individuals of the Cleveland Pride planning committee began working with the city officials at the Office of Special Events, Department of Parks, Recreations & Properties, to review and select a viable location for the 2017 celebration. Cleveland Pride announced through social media that it would be planning and holding the 2017 event welcoming any community member to the team” stated Todd J. Saporito, Cleveland Pride’s Board President and CEO.

Cleveland Pride is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, that eliminated all paid staff and contractors in 2008. The organization has relied solely on its Pride Planning Committee, which is comprised of community-based LGBT and straight-allied volunteers, partnerships with various downtown businesses, and LGBT organizations.

The planning committee worked closely with GoodTime III, Nuevo Modern Mexican and the Downtown Cleveland Alliance to develop a site layout and program that would be beneficial to all parties. “Nuevo Modern Mexican has had a great start in the Cleveland community,” boasted Erin Kirven, Event Coordinator, Nuevo Modern Mexican. “We are PROUD and EXCITED to partner with Cleveland Pride organization, as we assist in hosting the 2017 pride parade, rally and festival at our home in Voinovich Park!”

With the park’s beautiful views of all things Cleveland: Lake Erie, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, First Energy Stadium, the William Mathers and the picturesque views of the Cleveland skyline, it was an easy decision to choose Voinovich Park. Please join us as we return to our home Voinovich Park on Saturday, June 24, 2017 for the 28th annual Cleveland Pride parade, rally & festival!
