A Big Move: The Differences between Big City and Small Town
I’m a 24 year-old female…born and raised in the Cleveland/Lakewood area. I don’t like using labels but I am proud to be a girl loving girl. About 3 years ago I moved to a small town in Northwest Ohio and I never could have anticipated the differences between big city and small town living.
I live in a very Christian, Conservative, Republican, close minded town; so it’s really hard to be myself. I’ve pretty much always been very open about my sexuality. However, living here, no one understands it, so I tend to hide the best part of who I am. I try not to let that get me down so I decided to get into Community Theater…my home away from home if you will. It keeps me going and surrounded by people who understand me.
I am very grateful to have the family and friends I have because they love and accept me for who I am and are 100% behind the choices I make in life.
My hope for the (near) future is that one day we ALL will truly feel equal! I want to do whatever I can to help make that happen.
I’m Courtney Montagu and I am proud of who I am and where I come from. And I just want everyone to know that you are not alone. You are loved by someone whether you know it or not. Life is never as bad as you think it might be. There IS a light at the end of your tunnel.
