Thank you again to the teams that produced poundage last year. We generated approx 6000 lbs in food, and paid cash 1 week in advance for 4500. Lbs of frozen turkeys. This goal we would expect to exceed this challenge year.

The purpose of this contest is to help increase the poundage of food in the banks and ease the burden of providing food and services to those in need. The President states that 1 out of 10 people have a problem with hunger. With all the State and Federal cuts, the need is even greater in our community.

This contest will be applied to the Task Force Turkey Tuesday Food Basket drive. Any remainder will be rolled over into the Jon Brittain Food drive Cleveland. Other areas to their local recognized food pantry.

Teams can be made up of any five members of a leather club, social club, sports team, civic org, or any five employees of a bar. Enter as many
five member teams as you want. Example: Cocktails Cleveland, Cocktails Akron. Man’s World, The Shed.

Each team will select a team captain. The captain will be the contact person and also be responsible for entering the team. Each team will enter their combined team weight. Simply adding all the weights of the team together. This will be the standard to meet or beat for each team.

The criteria is POUNDS. Non-perishable food items. Most needed are canned goods, dry goods, peanut butter ECT. No frozen, refrigerated or fresh items. No cash will be accepted in this drive. Each team will be responsible if needed to convert all cash to poundage.

We will engage other fund raisers for frozen turkeys.

Winning criteria: The team collecting the highest percentage of, or exceeding their team’s weight.

Each team or captain will be responsible for the delivery of the poundage received. A panel will be selected to receive, weigh, and log all teams’ entries. Weights the week of 10-29-2011; Cleveland weights at the Task force. Delivery date TBA at the Aids Taskforce of Greater Cleveland.
