GAYWAVES, the ORIGINAL gay voice of America’s North Coast broadcasts on Mondays from 1 to 1:30 PM, from the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio on 15,000 watt WRUW-FM 91.1. GAYWAVES (originally Radio Lambda) is a public affairs show that has been on the air more or less continually for about 30 years now. Staff have included LGBT notables including Brian DeWitt (GPC), Scott Bibbs (PACT), Drew Cari, and Jerry Szoka. John Graves has been with the show since the mid 80s and also wrote the media watch column On the Air/Off the Press which ran in the GPC for many years. John has participated in the Pride march since the beginning and won the prize for best float several years back when the festival was on Public Square. He was also one of festival speakers that year. John continues to demonstrate his advocacy for Cleveland Pride by including public service announcements for Pride and for the Pride organizing meetings throughout the history of the show.
